The goal of the Clark Humanities Museum, which opened in 1970, is to give students the crucial opportunity to engage directly with original works of art and other artifacts of material culture related to their courses—an irreproducible experience that sharpens critical inquiry, fosters interdisciplinary thinking, and offers the keen poignancy of authenticity in our increasingly virtual digital age.
100 Years of Science at Scripps
November 10,2025- February 20, 2026
From the earliest days of Â鶹Çø and the Claremont Consortium, the sciences offered both possibility and challenge for women scholars. Across decades, shifting educational priorities, societal expectations, and institutional structures shaped how Scripps students engage with scientific discovery and technological progress. Through archival photos, oral histories, and creative projects, this exhibition traces that evolution: from Scripps alumnae stories, to transformations in psychology and computer science education, to the physical spaces where science is studied, to the shifts in student scientific interests, to the modern interplay between collaboration, prestige, and identity across the Claremont Colleges.
This exhibition was curated by CORE 3 Storytelling in the Sciences students in collaboration with the Ella Strong Denison Library.
